What I Did This Summer - plus -!!! A FEATURE!!!!

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 2, 2009, 6:12 PM
  • Mood: Wow!
  • Drinking: yes please
Last year I was on the cast & crew of a local independent film by Corner Film Productions called 'The Disk: Code Zero'. I got involved as a stunt person, and ended up also doing some hand-to-hand combat and drove a car to hit some bad guys :P and of course I was always taking pics whenever I was on set (many of which are in my gallery here).

This summer I was brought on as Director of Photography for the new Corner Film Productions movie, a full length feature film now titled 'Casualties of the State', and with a fabulous auditioned cast of nearly 60 people (most of them experienced actors & actresses), a fantastic professional HD camera, excellent locations, a hard working dedicated crew, and my own contribution of an 11' crane, steadycams and numberous track/dolly configurations, we made an amazing movie I am very proud to have been a part of!

We have a new trailer out on youtube, check it out here: [link]

In addition to working on the movie, I was able to attend the first World Traceuse Gathering in London. HUGE thanks to Liv (Flame) for organizing it, and was fantastic to meet everyone and train in and around London. I'm very jealous of those training areas we just have nothing here in Missouri that even comes close!!! Professional photographer Jonathan Lucas came with us one of the days and took pictures while we trained:

His full gallery of pictures is at: [link]

Of course I can't do a journal without a bit of a feature.....so from the theme of my most recent uploads, hows a wee bit of Morgues & Basements?

First the Morgues:

Then the Basements:

And from my own gallery:

And I learned something.....when searching for Morgues and Basements on deviantART....beware. There is some really disturbing stuff out there!!

Cheers!

10,000 & a NEW ARTIST feature

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 20, 2008, 3:34 PM
  • Mood: Joy
I'm right at 10,000 views....that simply amazes me, I remember when I got to 500 I thought that was a lot. Thanks to everyone who has enjoyed my pictures :) and who has inspired me to do better & push past the limits of my photography and editing skills & knowledge.

I wanted to celebrate this with a feature.....so it is only fitting I feature some pics by new dA artists. Some of these pics I found while browsing around, others were requested to be featured.

  • Eating: a raspberry beer, strawberry ice cream float. YUM.
I really enjoy HDR images, however I've found that oftentimes the thumbnail looks way oversaturated with loads of light halos but then the fullsize looks good. Problem is, if I don't like the look of the thumbnail, I'm not motivated to look at the fullsize. Does anyone else find this too?

Here are some fantastic HDR images with thumbnails that captured my attention and whose normal size/fullsize images reflect careful HDR editing that that I find enhances photo whereas the normal image would be good, the HDR editing just makes it GREAT:

I have been doing my own HDR photography and edits since January and enjoy it very much. Here is a selection of some of my own HDR photography work from my gallery:
